What we think, we become.
A BIT ABOUT CHANGE AND GETTING ‘UNSTUCK’
Our earliest experiences when we are very small set the foundation for how we view ourselves, other people and the world.
Over time, those beliefs are either reinforced or replaced depending on our experiences.
Once established, we tend to look for evidence that confirms these stories about ourselves - if you believe “I am good enough”, you’ll find evidence that that is true. If you believe “I am weak”, you’ll find evidence for that too.
Similar to when you are looking for a new car, and considering a Subaru, you will start noticing them everywhere. We tell our brains what to pay attention to, and it delivers.
There’s a good chance you didn’t have much choice over your early beliefs, but you are 100% responsible for what happens next. That may sound a little (or very) daunting, but it’s also life-changingly empowering. Change is absolutely possible.
Change your story, change your life.

I have spent the past decade using evidence based practice to work with a wide range of clients including veterans, parents, business owners, elite soldiers, emergency services personnel, and athletes. I work with people who are at the top of their game but feel like something is still missing, people that are facing a huge challenge (professionally, physically or in their relationships), and people who badly want to change something but cannot work out how to become unstuck.
My clients have often tried to 'push through' on their own, but have reached a point where they know they need to do something different to get different results.
Common issues include anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, relationship and parenting difficulties, transition and adjustment issues, addictive behaviours, difficulty with motivation and workplace stress.
The people that I see are individuals and thus require individual solutions. I advocate for starting today, taking responsibility for your choices, and looking at issues holistically.

SERVICES I OFFER
A lot can happen in 50 minutes.
Your job is to show up, and to be as honest and as open as you can be about where you are at and where you would like to be. It's ok though if you don't know that yet too. My task is to listen very carefully and to use evidence based approaches (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment therapy), Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and Psychodynamic principles) and my experience to tackle the issues you want to work on. It won't always be easy, but it is likely that you wouldn't be considering spending your valuable time working with me if it wasn't worth the effort.

Take action and grow
Working in mental health is incredibly rewarding, but not without its challenges. Client work, specific presentations, the workplace and our own experiences can test us, which is great because it gives us the opportunity to grow as clinicians and as people.
If you are a psychologist or a social worker and you would like to work on the work, get in touch.
